Application for deferment

• Please note! You have to be admitted to a programme or course to be eligible to apply for a deferment. In order to be admitted to a programme a student who is applying and is liable to pay fees must pay their student fees by the date set out by the university.

  If you have paid the fees and are admitted to a programme or course and can not start your studies, you can apply for a deferment of the start of your studies. If you have special reasons for a deferment that can be proven with a certificate, you can be granted a deferment. A decision to defer the start of studies means that you may start your studies at a later time, determined in the decision.
  

  Special reasons for deferment can be; 
  

  • Pregnancy, birth of child,
  • Parental leave,
    
  • Medical reasons,
    
  • Social reasons,
  • Student union assignments,
    
  • Mandatory military service in Sweden.

  Other reasons than above are due to the faculty`s prerequisites
  

  
  

  Please note!

  • When admitted to a programme/course and wants to apply for a deferment you must accept your offer as stated in the admission notice. However, you shall NOT register to the programme/course.
  • A deferment is normally granted until the next start of the programme/course.
    
  • A deferment may amount up to a maximum of 18 months unless there are special reasons for a longer period.
  • You will study according to the syllabus that is valid when the studies begin.
  • Deferment is granted with the reservation that the programme/course is no longer offered when you start your studies. 
    
  • If you are granted deferment, you may be liable to notify the Swedish Board of Student Finance (CSN) if necessary.
