Application for approved leave from studies

Approved leave from studies implies that you are not studying during a set of period but have the intention to resume your studies at a another specific term. If you uptain special reasons and can verify with a certificate, you can be granted approved leave from studies with a guarantee to resume your studies.

Special reasons for approved leave from studies can be;

Pregnancy, birth of child
Parental leave
Medical reasons
Social reasons
Student union assignments
Mandatory military service in Sweden

Other reasons than above are due to the faculty´s prerequisites

Please note!

It is not possible to study or take exams during the period of time you are granted approved leave from studies. Therefore, think carefully through the date from which you apply approved leave from studies. Contact a study- and career counselor for information and advice before submitting your application.

If changes to the programme/course syllabus occur during a granted approved leave from studies, you may be required to make additions before or in connection with your return. An individual study plan may then need to be drawn up.

In the event of changes within a programme, the education period after an approved leave from studies may be prolonged.

You will study according to the course/programme syllabus that is valid when you resume studies.

Approved leave from studies is granted with the reservation that the programme/course is no longer given when you are to resume your studies.

If you are granted approved leave from studies, you may be liable to notify the Swedish Board of Student Finance (CSN) if necessary.
