Grade decisions cannot be appealed.
If you believe that your grade is incorrect, you may request a review of the grade decision.
What does a review involve?
A review does not mean that the entire assessment is re-marked or re-evaluated from scratch. Instead, the examiner considers whether the grade decision is manifestly incorrect, for example due to a calculation error or an oversight.
Before requesting a review
You should attend the offered exam review before submitting a request for review. During the exam review, you will have the opportunity to see the marking, assessment, and any comments on your examination.
Only after reviewing your exam can you decide whether there is a specific error that may form the basis for a request for review. Questions and uncertainties can often be clarified during the review, without the need for a formal request.
What is required for your request to be considered?
For your request to be considered, you need to be able to point to a specific error. You must state what is incorrect and where the error is.
A request that only expresses dissatisfaction or asks for a new assessment will not lead to a change in the grade decision. Being dissatisfied with the grade, being close to a grade threshold, or wanting a new assessment is not sufficient grounds.
When should you submit your request?
A request for review should be submitted as soon as possible after you have received your grade. There is no time limit, but the review may become more difficult the more time passes. The request should also be submitted well in advance of any upcoming re-examination opportunity.
What you need to include in your request
• which question or part of the examination your request concerns
• what you believe is incorrect
• how your answer corresponds to the grading criteria, intended learning outcomes, or marking guide (if available)
